State Senator Bob Beers
(R-NV) to give recap of the

2005 Legislative Session

Long time Las Vegas Broadcaster
is WIC’s June Guest Speaker

The 2005 Nevada Legislature session was the most important in our state’s history. Everyone who owns a business, owns a home, has a child, or cares about the quality of life in the State of Nevada was affected in some way.

One of the more outspoken and influential members of the Legislature is State Senator Bob Beers (R-NV). Senator Beers will share his views on the just completed session at the next Woman in Communications Luncheon, to take place on Thursday, June 23, 2005 at Maggiano’s in the Fashion Show. “Schmoozing” begins at 11:30am.

Mr. Beers was a freshman Senator from District 6 the past session, after serving as State Assemblyman representing District 4 since 1998. During the 2005 Legislative Session, he was Vice-Chairman of the State Finance Committee, and a member of the Committees on Natural Resources and Legislative/Election Issues.

Senator Beers has a long history in Southern Nevada, having lived here since he was 11 years old. He is a graduate of Clark High School, and received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from UNLV. His community activities have included or include President of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce Business Expo and President-Elect of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce Business Council, in addition to being volunteer treasurer for Southern Nevada Clean Communities and the Nevada Republican Party. He is also a member of the Las Vegas Northwest Rotary Club, and currently works as Vice-President of Sales for Payroll Solutions.

In addition, Bob is “one of us”. He has worked on-air at numerous radio properties around Nevada, including as a disc jockey at KENO-FM (Las Vegas) and KCBN (Reno) in the late 1970s. In 1982, he became assistant news director at KMJJ (Las Vegas), where he was recipient of the “Best Miniseries” and “Best Newscast” awards from the Associated Press’ Medium Market Division. In the mid 80s, he was morning news anchor at KLUC, and through the 1990s, he was fill-in newsman at the Clear Channel cluster in Las Vegas.

Come meet and hear State Senator Bob Beers, in a setting that promises to be very interactive, and informative – at our new home –- Maggiano’s -- located at the Fashion Show on Las Vegas Boulevard & Spring Mountain. Reservations are needed by Tuesday, June 21st. No shows will be charged.
