It has been one year that KVBC/News 3’s Stacey Escalante was diagnosed with Stage 3 Melanoma Skin Cancer. Obviously, it was a life-changing experience for Stacey, but also a story that had the entire Las Vegas Valley entranced, watching Stacey struggle with, and eventually conquer this disease.
Stacey will share her story, and her courageous battle with Melanoma on her one-year cancer-free anniversary at the next Women in Communication Luncheon, to be held on Thursday, July 13, 2006 at Maggiano's in the Fashion Show. Schmoozing starts at 11:30am.
Joining Stacey as a guest speaker will be Nate Kvamme, Chief Executive Officer of Skin Check Skin Cancer Clinics and Skin Check Mobile.
Skin Cancer is one of most treatable cancers if it is caught early. The problem is too many people wait to see a doctor, and the problem has become very serious. Stacey admits she waited too long. She was diagnosed with Stage 3; Stage 4 is the worst.
Stacey joined Channel 3 in 1997, having begun her broadcasting career at KABC-TV in Los Angeles as a production assistant in 1991. She is a graduate of UCLA, and is a proud mother of two.
Her connection to WIC? Stacey is a two-time Electronic Media Award (EMA) winner (1999 & 2000) for “Television Reporter of the Year”.
Nate Kvamme serves as CEO for Skin Check Skin Cancer Clinics. He earned his Bachelors Degree from Colorado State University, and his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Louisville. He oversees strategic and business growth, development and general management at Skin Check Skin Cancer Clinics, and recently started Skin Check Mobile. These two medical practices have the ability to detect skin cancer early enough, and to recommend treatment. In just over one and a half years in Las Vegas, Skin Check has saved many lives.
