Tourism makes our state and our advertising industry go.
At the November Women in Communication Luncheon, attendees will learn all about Nevada and Worldwide Tourism from Thomas G. Tait, Vice President of Lake Las Vegas Resort. The luncheon will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2005 at Maggiano’s, located in the Fashion Show.
Since 2001, Mr. Tait has served as the Vice President of Business Development for the multi-billion dollar Lake Las Vegas Resort Complex. In this role, he spearheaded and received $4.5 million in road improvement funds from the United States government, and a 300% increase in annualized visitation to the resort.
Prior to Lake Las Vegas, Mr. Tait worked in 71 cities in 46 countries during the past sixteen years. The majority of his efforts were focused upon tourism and air-service development for Nevada and its cities while serving as Chief Executive of the Nevada Commission on Tourism from 1989-2001.
As part of his regular duties with the Nevada Commission on Tourism, Mr. Tait opened and managed foreign offices in Japan, the United Kingdom, Taiwan, and South Korea.
Mr. Tait was named a Distinguished Nevadan by both Governors Richard Bryan (1984) and Bob Miller (1998). He has won many other local and national awards including the Global Citizen Award by the National Council for International Visitors (2001), and the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen Achievement Award (2004-2005).
This promises to be an educational, interactive forum on what makes our state tick. RSVPs are needed by Monday, November 3rd. No-shows will be charged.
