There is never a dull day at City Hall, and it’s the job of David Riggleman to bring the words and pictures of Las Vegas government into our homes each day.
David Riggleman, the Director of Communications for the city of Las Vegas, will be the keynote speaker at our next Women in Communication Luncheon, to be held Thursday, November 09, 2006 at Maggiano’s in the Fashion Show. Schmoozing starts at 11:30am.
David has been director of communications for the city of Las Vegas since 1999. His duties include oversight of media relations, the city's government access television channel--KCLV Channel 2, internet content, city publications, employee communications and emergency communications. During his tenure at the city, Channel 2 was launched in January 2000.
Since then, the station as won numerous awards, including the 2002 Beacon Award for Best Station among U.S. government access channels. KCLV is carried 24-hours a day and streamed live on the Internet. The programming provides unique access to local government with live gavel-to-gavel coverage of City Council and Planning Commission meetings, a live phone in show with the mayor, live news conferences and programs specific to each ward in the city. David serves as host of the “Access City Council” program, which highlights happenings from each of the city’s six wards.
Longtime Las Vegans will remember David as an anchor at KVBC/tv3 from 1987-1995. He's won several journalism awards, including those from the Associated Press, United Press International, The Society of Professional Journalists (Sigma Delta Chi) and Women in Communication.
