WIC - PUTTING THE PIECES TOGETHER FOR A BETTER TOMORROW WIC MISSION STATEMENT – Jan. 2005 “Las Vegas Women in Communications is a non-profit, professional organization dedicated to the advancement, education, socialization and professional well-being of its members.” WIC believes that each individual is special and worthy of the finest opportunities available. WIC’s heart holds these core values - which come to life through the organization’s activities; as luncheons which provide a forum for the exchange of ideas along with relationship-building opportunities, in the organization’s fundraising efforts, and by maintaining an active job bank for its members. WIC’s efforts to raise scholarship funds by hosting the Annual Electronic Media Awards, a premier industry event, provides its members with the opportunity for community involvement and recognition, while furthering the advancement of the local communications industry. Las Vegas Women in Communications is an association of professionals in communications and related industries whose efforts are directed at raising scholarship funds for UNLV students and promoting the open exchange of ideas within the industry. Founded in 1983 as Las Vegas Women in Communications, WIC serves over 250 members. WIC hosts the Electronic Media Awards each fall which serve the dual purpose of raising scholarship funds while recognizing effort and talent within the industry. WIC provides educational and networking opportunities at monthly luncheons featuring timely and relevant guest speakers geared around industry topics. WIC is committed to maintaining an active membership of professionals, offering such benefits as access to the Job Bank, monthly educational speakers, membership directories and special member discounts. WIC has donated over $100,000 in scholarship funds to UNLV & CCSN students through the Hank Greenspun School of Communication. |
